Audience feedback to my magazine

After showing my magazine to my immediate target audience I got the response that I was hoping for through structuring my images, text, positioning of my images and the colour scheme featured in my magazine. The colours are bright and piercing which links to my research into other music magazines. I wanted to add aspects of similar music magazines to my magazine as they expressed my chosen genre clearly. I use Red, Black and Yellow but by adding Black and White just contrasts an ‘in your face’ affect to a subtle feeling when reading articles, straplines, puffs etc.

The images that are shown are clear and subtle through the magnetic lasso tool on Photoshop along with feathering tool to blend the images into a clear and distinct way. I was told that my front cover was clearly thought out and had a lot of information but underneath the masthead, there was a blank space that had a lack of content that I knew I needed to amend. Also, the information on the contents page wasn’t enough information that I and target audience agreed on.

Brave came on the music scene in early 2013, the last time KDMO interviewed them were in late 2013. They’ve taken 2 years out of the spotlight to focus on their image and what purpose they have offering their fans. They are back with their second single, Honest. Carry on reading to hear more or where Brave is heading next!

“Hi guys, how’s it been going since I saw you last? You look absolutely amazing!”

BRAVE “Hey Kay, it’s lovely to see you again! Oh and thank you for the compliment, we’ve had a massive change to our appearance and our band in general since you saw us last. We’ve been off the music scene for a good year and a bit! It’s purely because we thought one night just round at Harry’s apartment and we began to mash together and we just all knew something wasn’t right! We ‘ve been so focused on what everyone else wants us to be than actually knowing what we wanna be and what sound we are. So we decided to take a year and a bit out to purely find ourselves through music. I think having the time out of the media just made us all a better person and now we’re here talking to you in the way we wanted to a few years back!

“Well, as long as you’re all happy and the fans are happy with the decision you have now made, that’s all what matter, right?”

BRAVE “The fans have been really supportive and actually, I’m shocked with what we’ve been told about the band saying that who we are now, is so much better than how we were when we started. I mean it just goes back to growing up and finding ourselves through new music and knowing what we are and who we are individually.”

“The real question is that everyone’s asking, when’s your first album going to be released?”

BRAVE: “We’ve been all over in America this year. We ended up recording our whole album in Nashville which was an amazing opportunity, to see everything and be in a place that gave us all a break but working hard also. I suppose we had the best of both worlds.”

Magazine changes

Through creating my Indie Magazine, I have decided to scrap my idea and start a fresh. I found that my magazine wasn't going no where, the conventions and linking to my target audience became too technical for it to be a finish Indie magazine. I have decided to now create a Rock magazine which varies to all conventions and it will link to my immediate target audience. The indie was lacking information. Rock magazines mainly focus on straplines, puffs etc. to attract to the audience and get them to buy their magazine through bright colour schemes that are continuous throughout. I feel that creating a Rock magazine will structure my magazine a lot more with what I have to include in it.
